Job summary

Federal Signal in University Park, IL is seeking a Work Cell Assembler for the Small Lights line. You will read blueprints, schedules and work orders to assemble components in a dedicated work cell and ensure quality. The role requires precise use of hand and power tools and maintaining a clean, safe workspace.

Qualifications

• Experience with light mechanical and/or electrical assembly.
• Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, pallet jacks, hand trucks, fixed gauges, jigs, meters, soldering irons, riveters, presses and crimping tools.
• Mechanical aptitude, attention to detail and sound judgement.

Responsibilities

• Works from blueprints, schedules, shop orders and specification sheets.
• Reviews production schedules and arranges parts, materials, supplies, tooling and equipment to meet production.
• Requisitions and stores; passes Kan Ban cards to producing departments.
• Sets up work cell and adjusts tools, gauges and equipment.
• Monitors work to maintain quality standards and notifies supervisor of nonconformance.
• Performs preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Trains new and existing employees on work cell processes.
• Follows safety rules and keeps work area clean and orderly.
