Job summary

Federal Signal in University Park, IL is seeking a Work Cell Assembler for the Heavy Duty AM shift. You will work on-site from 7:00am to 3:30pm, reading blueprints and production orders to assemble heavy-duty components and maintain quality standards.

The role requires experience with light mechanical and/or electrical assembly, plus familiarity with various hand and power tools. You will contribute to a safe, efficient cell and participate in team training and day-to-day operations.

Qualifications

• Experience with light mechanical and/or electrical assembly.
• Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, pallet jacks, hand trucks, fixed gauges, jigs, meters, soldering irons, riveters, presses and crimping tools.
• Mechanical aptitude, attention to detail and sound judgement.

Responsibilities

• Works from blueprints, schedules, shop orders, specification sheets and tests.
• Reviews production schedules and arranges parts, materials, supplies, tooling and equipment.
• Requisitions and stores; passes Kan Ban cards to producing departments.
• Sets up work cell and adjusts tools, gauges and equipment as needed.
• Monitors quality and notifies supervisor of nonconformance; performs preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Trains new and existing employees in the work cell; follows safety rules.
