Job summary

Federal Signal Corporation in Illinois is seeking an associate to assemble mechanical and electrical components. You will read blueprints and work with tools and equipment to meet production needs, set up work cells, and maintain quality standards.

Responsibilities include training teammates, following safety rules, and performing preventative maintenance on shop equipment. This role may require operating various hand and power tools and handling materials for ongoing production tasks.

Qualifications

• High School diploma is required.
• Experience with light mechanical and/or electrical assembly.
• Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, pallet jacks, hand trucks, fixed gauges, jigs, meters, soldering irons, riveters, presses and crimping tools.
• Mechanical aptitude, attention to detail and sound judgement.

Responsibilities

• Works from blueprints, schedules, shop orders, specification sheets, process instructions and test.
• Reviews production schedules and arranges for parts, materials, supplies, tooling and equipment to meet production.
• Requisitions and stores; passes Kan Ban cards to producing departments; moves items between storage areas and work.
• Sets up work cell; adjustments of tools, gauges and equipment; monitors quality and notifies supervisor of nonconformance.
• Performs preventative maintenance on equipment in the work area.
• Trains new and existing employees in the work cell; enforces safety rules.
