Job summary

CACI is seeking a Welder to join the Fabrication Team at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD), located in Bethesda, MD. In this role, you will assist NAVSEA with R&D welding/fabrication efforts, including welding custom-made scale models of ships and submarines.

The role requires GTAW/GMAW, brazing, plasma and oxy-fuel cutting, and precision measurement. A High School diploma or equivalent and AWS or NAVSEA certifications are required; familiarity with GD&T and reading

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• AWS or NAVSEA welding certifications (past or present).
• Experience fixturing and welding steel, aluminum and stainless steel with GTAW/GMAW.
• Experience with brazing processes and fluxes.
• Experience with plasma cutting and oxy-fuel cutting.
• Familiar with metal forming machinery (brakes, rollers, shears).
• Ability to read detailed drawings and tolerances; GD&T understanding.
• Able to setup GTAW, GMAW, SMAW including settings and gas selection.

Responsibilities

• Independently plan and carry out assignments per facility policies and drawings.
• Develop fixturing methods and weld procedures for efficient fabrication.
• Select proper weld parameters for ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
• Diagnose weld discontinuities and deformation causes; suggest fixes.
• Review drawings for production feasibility and tolerances.
• Assist with laser tracking and ultrasonic measurement devices.
