Job summary

Fairlead Integrated, LLC. seeks an experienced welder to perform high-grade welding and metal fabrication in a demanding NAVSEA environment. The role requires reading NAVSEA specs, working with multiple welding processes, and ensuring first-time quality on critical components.

Responsibilities include setting up equipment, interpreting WPS, and mentoring junior welders while maintaining safety and production schedules. On-site work in Portsmouth, VA with equal opportunity employers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years related welding experience or accredited Apprenticeship/Journeyman accepted in lieu of experience.
• Ability to weld PQR plates to qualify the company for new processes.
• Certified to the company’s Level 2 VT NDT procedures.
• Experience and qualification per NAVSEA documents.
• Knowledge of MIL-22D or AWS D1.1 welding principles and correct weld joint identification.

Responsibilities

• Operate safety equipment and maintain safe work habits.
• Weld components in 2G, 3G, 4G and 6G positions in at least 6 processes.
• Interpret NAVSEA approved WPS (weld procedure specification).
• Use gauges for first-in-line quality checks as welds are completed.
• Set up or program power supplies and identify correct support gear for welds.
• Proficient in oxy/fuel, plasma, CAC-A cutting, gouging and beveling as required.
• Clamp, tack-weld, align and secure parts to meet configurations and schedules.
• Detect and troubleshoot faulty equipment or materials and notify management if replacement is needed.
• Read drawings and VWI 3D models to guide welds and qualify welds per NAVSEA specs.
