Job summary

Atlas Copco Group in Michigan City, IN, with locations in South Bend and Chesterton, is seeking a Welder Fabricator to build high-quality components. You will weld carbon steel, stainless steel and alloy piping to spec, fabricate parts, and inspect welds to ISO 9001 standards.

You will read blueprints, P&IDs and isometrics, operate fabrication tools, and use cranes/forklifts. The role requires 2+ years of welding experience (MIG/TIG/ARC), safety focus, and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on welding experience in MIG, TIG and ARC processes.
• Ability to read blueprints, isometrics and P&IDs for fabrication.
• Experience with stainless steel and structural fabrication.
• Comfort with pipe preparation, preheat and PWHT concepts.
• Strong measurement and math skills, attention to detail.
• Willingness to work overtime, including weekends, as needed.

Responsibilities

• Weld carbon steel, stainless steel and alloy piping to specs.
• Fabricate parts and structures per project requirements.
• Inspect welds for quality per ISO 9001 and customer standards.
• Operate forklifts, cranes and other equipment for material movement.
• Read and interpret blueprints, isometrics and P&IDs.
• Layout and secure pipe sections with clamps and fixtures.
• Follow standardized procedures with careful attention to detail.
• Collaborate with team, maintain safety and continuous improvement.
