Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. seeks a skilled pattern assembler to prepare and assemble complex multi-component patterns within a dimensionally controlled fixture, supporting the gating process.

You will read detailed technique cards, plan assembly steps, and use torches and hand tools to maintain dimensional integrity. Responsibilities include assembling patterns with fixturing, inspecting during and after assembly, and possibly developing modification code sheets.

Qualifications

• Ability to apply pattern assembly techniques, methods, materials, fixturing and construction.
• Experience assembling wax patterns and/or pattern finishing is preferred or the equivalent experience.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with others.
• Ability to work in a team environment and promote team development.
• Ability to read and follow complex written instructions.
• Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing thirty to fifty pounds and occasionally up to one hundred twenty five pounds with assistance.
• Ability to work in conditions which may include exposure to noise, fumes, crowding, awkward physical positions, abrasions, cuts, and chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare pattern components and dimensional fixture prior to loading.
• Reads and follows technique card assembly instructions, which describe numerous unique assembly steps; plans the methods for completing a given assignment and selects among alternative assembly methods.
• Assemble complex multi-component patterns by means of torch, hot pencils, and a variety of hand tools.
• Assembles complex patterns using full-time dimensional fixturing to maintain dimensional control and stability.
• Manipulates fixture/pattern components to remove configuration discrepancies and verify dimensional integrity.
• Possibly develops code sheets for engineering-requested modifications or deviations to standard assemblies.
• Inspects assemblies during and after the assembly process to detect defects and ensure quality.
