Job summary

Hitachi Global Air Power US, LLC in Michigan City, Indiana is seeking Unit Assemblers to build high‑quality air end assemblies for internal and external customers. You will read engineering drawings, follow BOMs, and use precision tools to ensure tight tolerances.

The role requires safe operation of forklifts and cranes, and readiness to cross-train across models. The position is on-site at the Michigan City plant, reporting to the Value Stream Leader - Unit Assembly.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent is required.
• Experience in tight tolerance assembly is preferred.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and BOMs.
• Proficiency with precision measurement tools.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Build high quality air ends for internal and OEM customers.
• Read, interpret and follow engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, and instructions.
• Use hand tools and powered drills to assemble equipment.
• Perform quality checks and document defects.
• Rework or repair assembled equipment per specs.
• Operate forklift and overhead crane; adhere to safety standards.
• Cross-train to build all models and work in multiple assembly areas.
• Maintain equipment and submit work orders as needed.
