Job summary

Hitachi Global Air Power US in Michigan City, Indiana is seeking a Unit Assembler to build high quality air end assemblies, read engineering drawings and BOMs, and perform air tests to meet specifications.

You will work with dial indicators, depth micrometers and standard micrometers, operate forklifts and cranes safely, and participate in TPM and 6S events while supporting continuous improvement and quality.

Qualifications

• Education: High School education or equivalent.
• Experience in tight tolerance assembly preferred.
• Experience in machine, automotive, marine, aerospace, assembly/maintenance/repair preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work independently or in a team to build high quality air ends for internal and OEM customers.
• Read, interpret and follow engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other instructions.
• Use hand tools, including air and battery-powered drills.
• Perform quality work checks to ensure product meets standards and document defects.
• Rework and repair assembled equipment per engineering changes.
• Safe material handling including forklift driving and overhead crane operation.
• Maintain equipment and submit work orders as appropriate.
• Problem solve/root cause analysis.
• Engage in computer transactions impacting inventory control.
• Operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
• Participate in TPM and 6S events; cross-train to build all models; work in all assembly as necessary.
