Job summary

Torus is hiring a Transformer Manufacturing Technician to fabricate, wind, and assemble power transformer sub-assemblies at the Salt Lake City GigaOne facility. You will work across Laminations, Coil, and Core & Tank Assembly, operating wind machines and processing silicon steel for precision core assemblies.

Ideal candidates have 1–3+ years in electromechanical assembly, blueprints literacy, and familiarity with inspection tools.

Qualifications

• 1 to 3+ years of electromechanical assembly experience.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, assembly drawings, electrical schematics.
• Hands-on proficiency with power tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Experience with operating heavy machinery or overhead cranes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate winding machines to wind copper and aluminum conductors per specs.
• Measure and apply insulation between winding layers.
• Machine lamination stacks from silicon steel into core components.
• Perform core lacing, stacking, and clamping to tight tolerances.
• Move heavy components using cranes and rigging safely.
• Assemble bushings, tap changers, gaskets, and wiring harnesses into tanks.
• Conduct basic quality checks and document results.
• Maintain 5S and safety standards on the shop floor.
