Job summary

Jabil is seeking an experienced machinist to craft and repair tools, gauges, fixtures, jigs and dies. You will interpret blueprints and drawings to produce parts with tight tolerances, plan efficient workflows, and supervise others as needed.

The role requires precision, math proficiency and strong adherence to quality standards, with responsibilities spanning planning, fabrication and process improvement within the tool room.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals, and blueprints.
• Ability to perform basic math and interpret and execute work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Constructs and repairs machine shop tools, gauges, fixtures, jigs or dies for use within the establishment.
• Performs assignments that range from ordinary tool room operations to precise work with close tolerances.
• Plans construction procedures and methods, selecting proper materials.
• Lays out, fabricates and assembles metalworking dies, molds, and machine tool fixtures from blueprints and models.
• Uses machinist’s hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Computes dimensions and determines machining and material requirements.
• Performs precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
• Monitors and verifies quality according to process controls.
• May lead and guide lower level staff on projects.
• Supports safety and quality programs.
