Job summary

Steel Tool & Engineering Co. is a leading aerospace precision machining and fabrication facility based in Michigan. The Tool Maker will read blueprints, operate CNC and manual machines, and produce high-accuracy tooling components to tight tolerances.

Responsibilities include tool fabrication, inspection with precision metrology, and continuous improvement through Kaizen. Safety, 5S, and accurate documentation are integral to daily tasks in a fast-paced shop.

Qualifications

• Precision machining and tolerance control required.
• CAD drawings reading and CAM programming a plus.
• 3–5 years in tool room or precision machining preferred.
• Ability to lift and handle tooling components as needed.

Responsibilities

• Blueprint interpretation from engineering drawings and CAD models.
• Machine, assemble, and finish tools using CNC/manual equipment.
• Inspect tools with micrometers, calipers, CMMs for dimensional accuracy.
• Diagnose wear or failure and perform repairs to tooling.
• Plan machining sequences and setups for efficient production.
• Maintain setup sheets and communicate tooling changes.
