Job summary

Silgan Closures in Evansville, IN is seeking an experienced Tool & Die Maker to construct, repair and maintain production tooling and to perform precision machining of dies and parts. You will follow blueprints, use precision instruments, and lay out tooling with careful attention to metal properties.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, technical certification preferred, and strong troubleshooting, teamwork and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED/Equivalent required; technical program certification preferred.
• Above average reasoning and troubleshooting ability.
• Tool and Die Maker experience required.
• Preferred skills: strong team skills and communication in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Work from blueprint, sketch, sample parts or verbal instructions.
• Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometer, scale, vernier caliper, height gauge.
• Layout and develop templates and patterns for die development and tooling.
• Overhaul machines, replace worn parts and assemble for proper operation.
• Assist engineering in experimental work and may suggest design changes.
