Job summary

Powell in Houston is seeking an experienced assembler to build and assemble mechanical components for Switchgear and Breaker units per engineering drawings and customer specifications. The role requires maintaining tools, conducting in-process inspections, and supporting root-cause analysis on changes.

The candidate should have 2-4 years in assembling metal enclosures or switchgear, read tape measures, and communicate effectively in English.

Qualifications

• Minimum education level of a High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
• 2-4 years of experience in assembling metal boxes/enclosures or electrical switchgear.
• Ability to read a tape measure (fractions, decimals, metric).
• Must have basic command of English (written and verbal).
• Basic knowledge of operating a desktop computer.
• Safely use hand/power tools.
• Lift up to 50 lbs using proper lifting techniques.

Responsibilities

• Build and assemble mechanical components for Switchgear and/or Breaker units per engineering drawings and customer specifications.
• Perform maintenance and proper use of tools.
• Perform in-process inspections; ensure quality by following standard work instructions and identifying risks to product quality.
• Perform ship prep functions including splitting gear.
• Assist in Root Cause Analysis on engineering changes and correct discrepancies.
• Assist a small team of employees to complete tasks assigned by lead assembler/supervisor.
• Perform mechanical adjustments for switchgear.
• Promote a safety culture and attend safety meetings.
• Keep work areas clean and well organized.
