Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Lethality M&S Engineer to characterize missile system end-game performance for Precision Strike platforms. You will develop and use simulation tools for physics-based engagement- and mission-level analyses, collaborating with experts across aerodynamics, propulsion, and software development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in physics, mathematics, mechanical, aerospace, or closely related engineering field.
  • At least two years of relevant experience analyzing missile systems or aerospace/defense systems.
  • Experience with MATLAB or Python.
  • Experience running or developing modeling and simulations tools.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical problems and execute tasks through completion.
  • U.S. citizenship with Interim Secret clearance by start date and ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate precision strike platform effectiveness by developing, using, and integrating lethality modeling tools.
  • Analyze performance of current and future weapon systems and optimize engagements.
  • Develop novel engineering software tools to analyze large data sets.
  • Collaborate with IC to model targets and understand defeat strategies.
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team to improve modeling capabilities.
  • Prepare and present technical documentation to sponsors and partners.
