Job summary

Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Lethality Modeling & Simulation Engineer in Laurel, MD to characterize end-game performance of precision-strike platforms. You will develop and integrate engagement-level models, analyze weapon system performance, and collaborate across disciplines to improve tools and data analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Physics, Mathematics, Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering field.
  • At least two years of relevant experience analyzing missile systems or aerospace/defense systems.
  • Experience with MATLAB or Python.
  • Experience running or developing modeling and simulation tools.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical problems and execute tasks through completion.
  • Eligibility for Interim Secret clearance with potential to obtain Top Secret; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate precision-strike platform effectiveness by developing, using, and integrating lethality modeling and simulation tools.
  • Analyze performance of current and future weapon systems and optimize engagements.
  • Build and develop engineering software tools to analyze large datasets.
  • Collaborate with Intelligence Community to model key targets and defeat strategies.
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team to improve modeling capabilities.
  • Prepare and present formal documentation to technical partners and sponsors.
