Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Laboratory Technician to convert field samples into numbers under an AASHTO R18 quality system. You’ll operate calibrated equipment, log data, and maintain chain of custody for every result.

You will perform ASTM D698, D1557, D2216, D4318, C136, and C39 tests, keep calibration records, and support proficiency programs. Pay ranges from $25 to $35 per hour with daytime hours and occasional overtime during busy seasons. Training is provided.

Qualifications

• Careful hands and clean documentation habits are required.
• Mechanical aptitude and precision work are essential.
• Prior lab or CMT experience is a plus, training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Perform ASTM D698, D1557, D2216, D4318, C136, and C39 testing.
• Maintain calibration, standardization, and quality records.
• Log samples and preserve chain of custody.
• Break cylinders and report strength results same day.
• Support proficiency sample programs and accreditation assessments.
