Apogee Enterprises, Inc. is hiring a Sandblaster to operate abrasive blasting equipment and prepare metal surfaces for coating, welding, or finishing. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and adherence to production schedules.

You will select media, inspect surfaces, maintain equipment, and document work in the CMMS. The position offers an hourly rate of $24 and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in sandblasting, manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial painting preferred.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions and safety procedures.
• Ability to use measuring and inspection tools.
• Forklift or overhead crane experience is a plus.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

• Operate sandblasting and abrasive blasting equipment safely and efficiently.
• Prepare surfaces by removing rust, paint, mill scale, and other contaminants.
• Inspect workpieces and verify surface preparation requirements are met.
• Select appropriate blasting media, equipment settings, and protective gear.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance.
• Follow work instructions, quality standards, and production schedules.
• Comply with all environmental, health, and safety requirements.
• Assist in the troubleshooting and repair of production equipment.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on production equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area using 6S principles.
• Document work progress in CMMS and communicate work status to business partners.
