Job summary

Apogee Enterprises, Inc. in Minnesota seeks a Sandblast Operator to perform abrasive blasting on metal and other materials, preparing surfaces for coating, welding, or finishing operations. You will operate equipment safely, inspect finished surfaces, and ensure adherence to production schedules.

Qualifications

Position Summary

The Sandblaster, or Sandblast Operator, performs abrasive blasting and surface preparation on metal and other materials to remove rust, scale, paint, and contaminants prior to coating, welding, fabrication, or finishing operations. The role requires safe operation of blasting equipment, quality inspection, and adherence to production schedules and safety standards.

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on production equipmentMaintain a clean and organized work area using 6S principles

Personal Attributes and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in sandblasting, manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial painting preferred
• Ability to read and follow work instructions and safety procedures
• Ability to use measuring and inspection tools
• Forklift or overhead crane experience is a plus
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Strong safety awareness.
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Hourly Rate

Hourly Rate: $24.00/hr + $1/50/hr shift differential

Hours

Hours: Sunday-Thursday 10:00pm - 6:30am

Work Environment

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Wearing PPE including NIOSH approved Type 1 Class C respirator, protective suits, gloves, and hearing protection is required. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
