Job summary

SJS Industrial, a veteran-owned shop in Virginia Beach, VA, is seeking a full-time Quality Control Technician. The role supports coating and blasting operations, with inspections of processed materials and adherence to customer specs.

Training starts on 1st shift and moves to 2nd shift (2nd shift 12:30 PM–9 PM) as you gain proficiency. The ideal candidate has 6 months in QC, understands coating QA standards, and can use calibrated inspection tools.

Qualifications

• 6 months of experience in Quality Control, preferably in coatings operations.
• Knowledge of coatings QA standards and calibrated inspection equipment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Pass drug test and background check.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with QC Supervisor and Production Engineer to establish weekly inspection schedule.
• Review job packages, traveler forms, and technical drawings to meet customer specifications.
• Verify customer requirements (color, texture, mil thickness, coverage, packaging) are met.
• Perform in-process and final inspections of processed material.
• Use gauges and measurement equipment to confirm coating thickness and conformity.
• Maintain calibration standards and calibration cycles for tools.
• Ensure documentation is complete and complies with changes.
• Inspect subcontracted components for conformance to drawings and purchase requirements.
• Support NBPI/SSPC QAS compliance for DOD and commercial paint requirements.
• Track non-conforming products and corrective actions to completion.
• Assist in root cause analysis and remediation actions.
