Job summary

RRD in Oberlin, OH is seeking a plate making operator to produce lithographic and flexographic plates from digital files. You will imprint and finish plates, review for defects, and maintain production records in a fast-paced environment.

Role requires 1+ year of print or graphic design experience, and proficiency with Mac/PC graphic software including Adobe Creative Suite; basic maintenance and color management skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; 2 year technical degree or certification preferred.
• 1+ years of print or graphic design experience.
• Proficient with graphic design and layout software on Mac and PC.
• Understanding of digital file formats (PDF, TIFF, EPS) from Mac/PC.
• Experience with Imposition software (Mac) and Adobe Creative Suite (PC).
• Advanced color management skills preferred.
• Ability to output digital files to various output devices.
• Understanding of the printing process and basic platemaking maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Operate plate making equipment to produce lithographic/flexographic plates from digital files.
• Impose images, bend/tab, and shear to prepare plates for press.
• Review plate images for defects and maintain production documentation.
• Perform basic troubleshooting and routine maintenance on platemaking equipment.
• May manage materials inventory and assist with color proofs for customer review.
• Identify missing or problematic components and communicate to CSR and production.
