Job summary

IPG Photonics Corporation in Oxford, MA is seeking an R&D technician to support testing and manufacture of laser systems and participate in ongoing R&D projects. This hands-on role requires precision in optical and opto-mechanical components, meticulous records, and proficiency with analytical instruments.

You will assemble sub-assemblies, inspect optics, run tests, and assist in documentation and cost tracking.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent in optics, engineering, physics or related technical disciplines.
• Ability to handle precision opto-mechanical components.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and read optical and mechanical schematics.
• Proficient computer skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office (spreadsheets, word processing).
• Good technical writing skills; good interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assembly of precision opto-mechanical and optical sub-assemblies.
• Inspection and testing of incoming optics.
• Testing of optical assemblies to ensure compliance to the required specifications.
• Assists in documentation and work instructions for new products or sub-assemblies.
• Provides feedback to engineering regarding errors or omissions in existing documentation.
