Job summary

IPG Photonics, headquartered in Marlborough, MA, seeks an Equipment Maintenance Engineer to support reliability and lifecycle needs of precision optical fabrication equipment. This hands-on role involves troubleshooting, maintenance improvements, installations and root-cause investigations in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing or related technical field; equivalent experience considered.
• 2–5 years in equipment/maintenance engineering in manufacturing.
• Ability to troubleshoot automated equipment involving mechanical, electrical, control, vacuum, and thermal systems.
• Familiarity with vacuum systems and automated manufacturing equipment; high-vacuum experience is a plus.
• Ability to read, update and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, pneumatic diagrams, P&IDs, and procedures.
• Experience with CMMS, preventive maintenance, root-cause analysis, and equipment upgrades.

Responsibilities

• Support troubleshooting and maintenance of optical fabrication and coating equipment under guidance of senior engineers.
• Support CNC generators, grinders, lapping, polishing, and metrology-support equipment.
• Maintain and troubleshoot vacuum chambers, pumps, valves, gauges, and cooling systems.
• Diagnose failures across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, PLC, servo, and motion-control domains.
• Assist in preventive and predictive maintenance activities based on risk, OEM guidance and history.
• Participate in root-cause analysis for downtime and quality issues.
• Assist with equipment modifications and improvements to enhance reliability and safety.
• Support installations, upgrades and commissioning activities as assigned.
