Job summary

Thorlabs in Newton, NJ, is seeking a manufacturing technician to support photonics production. You will load materials, operate grinding/edging/polishing machines, and perform precise measurements while maintaining quality records in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum 4 years of manufacturing experience and a high school diploma are required. Strong teamwork, attention to detail, and basic math are essential; occasional duties at other Thorlabs locations may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of manufacturing experience and related technical education.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Prepare raw materials for processing using blocking methods such as wax, pitch, film, and optical contacting.
• Operate optical manufacturing equipment such as cutting, edging, grinding, and polishing machines.
• Load, unload, and operate equipment and perform metrology using hand tools, microscopes, test plates, and interferometers.
• Maintain documentation in the Manufacturing Database and participate in continuous improvement.
• Cross-train and assist training of less experienced team members.
