Job summary

AMETEK in Richmond, CA is seeking an onsite Optician – Precision Fabrication to join our Extreme Precision Optics team. You will fabricate and finish high-tolerance optics for aerospace, defense, medical, semiconductor and industrial markets, working closely with engineering, quality and metrology.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent; 6+ years in precision optical manufacturing; experience with interferometry, optics handling, and tools such as Optotech, Satisloh,

Qualifications

• High-precision optics fabrication and finishing experience.
• Experience with interferometry and optical metrology.
• Ability to read complex engineering drawings and specs.
• Hands-on setup, operation, and troubleshooting of fabrication equipment.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and finish high-tolerance optics to spec.
• Set up and operate fabrication equipment; optimize parameters.
• Lead day-to-day execution and coordinate with teams.
• Interpret drawings and ensure documentation and traceability.
• Support optical testing and metrology; suggest corrective actions.
• Mentor junior staff and maintain equipment and safety standards.
• Maintain tools and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
