Job summary

The role involves loading and aligning components on fabrication machines, inspecting with micrometers and height gauges, and supporting process improvements in a precision optics environment. You will contribute to high-precision aspheres for semiconductor, display, and defense applications, and work with engineering to maintain quality and production performance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; 2 years of college or trade school preferred.
• 5–7 years in an advanced manufacturing field; optical fabrication experience preferred.
• Experience operating precision hand tools such as micrometers and calipers.
• Understanding of basic shop math: ratios, graphs, algebra, and geometry.

Responsibilities

• Manufactures optical components in a production environment by loading and aligning components on fabrication machines and reviewing and modifying setup parameters.
• Prepares equipment for operation by positioning and securing polishing heads, preparing tooling, and preparing and monitoring polishing slurries.
• Maintains in‑process specifications and controls and determines sequence of operations based on work instructions.
• Measures part dimensions using micrometers, height gauges, and other tools.
• Monitors manufacturing processes and collaborates with engineering to evaluate and implement process improvements.
• Ensures proper operation of equipment by performing scheduled preventative maintenance.
