Job summary

Total Talent Solutions is seeking a Metallurgical Laboratory Technician for our Wilmerding, PA site. The role involves preparing metal samples, conducting hardness and metallographic tests, and maintaining lab safety and documentation in a fast-paced environment.

Candidates should have an associate or technical degree related to metallurgy or materials science, familiarity with lab procedures, and the ability to operate microscopes and basic testing equipment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical coursework in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Engineering Technology, Laboratory Technology or related field preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required; relevant lab/manufacturing experience may substitute educational requirements.
• Ability to follow testing procedures, work instructions and quality standards.
• Basic computer skills for data entry, documentation and test reporting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare metal samples for testing using band saws, grinders, and polishing equipment.
• Perform metallographic mounting, grinding, polishing, and preparation for analysis.
• Conduct hardness, tensile, corrosion, surface roughness, and pH testing.
• Evaluate microstructures using microscopes and assist with material characterization.
