Job summary

Carpenter Technology Corporation in Reading, PA seeks a Technician III for the Met Lab to prepare samples, perform a range of metallurgical tests and record data with minimal supervision.

You'll conduct hardness, tension, resistivity, metallographic and magnetic tests, direct day-to-day activities, train teammates, and contribute to process improvements, including involvement in heat treating and other testing areas as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three or more years of relevant experience.
• Ability to prepare samples and perform metallurgical tests.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis and carry out metallurgical testing with minimal supervision.
• Perform mechanical tests on specialized equipment (hardness, tension, resistivity, etc.).
• Conduct metallographic and magnetic tests using etchants, polishing and metallographic equipment.
• Record data and make recommendations to supervision based on results.
• Direct, train and coordinate day-to-day activities of the Met Lab within the testing area.
• Develop knowledge of testing procedures in other areas and may test there as well.
