Job summary

Woodland Heights Medical Center is seeking a Medical Lab Technician to perform routine and specialized tests on blood and body fluids, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance. The role includes maintaining and troubleshooting equipment, documenting results in the LIS, and collecting specimens via venipuncture.

The position requires an AS/MLT-equivalent education and may include 0–2 years of acute clinical lab experience.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology required
• Military Medical Laboratory Procedures course (50 weeks) required or equivalent
• 0-2 years of acute clinical laboratory experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs waived, moderate, and high-complexity tests following established procedures; reviews results for accuracy
• Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory equipment; performs preventive maintenance
• Performs quality control procedures and documents corrective actions for out-of-range results
• Documents patient test results in the LIS and reports critical results accurately
• Collects blood specimens via venipuncture and capillary techniques per protocol
• Investigates and resolves issues related to specimen collection, processing, and testing; escalates when needed
• Assists in training students and new personnel by demonstrating procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains regular attendance
