Job summary

SQA Services in Chicago, IL is seeking a Quality Mechanical Inspector to perform precision inspections at client suppliers in the Chicago and Midwest region. The position is on the first shift and can be full-time or part-time, depending on needs.

You will utilize micrometers, CMMs, height gauges, and other inspection tools to verify conformance to GD&T and drawings, reading and interpreting complex specifications. The role requires strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with precision mechanical parts inspection.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and industry standards.
• Proficient in GD&T and validating dimensions using hand tools.
• Experience with certificates of conformance and inspection documentation.
• Ability to adapt to new technology and software.
• Excellent visual acuity to detect defects.

Responsibilities

• Conduct precision mechanical inspections at client suppliers in Chicago, IL and the Midwest.
• Perform precision inspection verifications on mechanical parts, components, assemblies, and materials.
• Inspection may include purchased parts, in-process and final assemblies, and materials for conformance to drawings.
• Perform surface plate inspection of the first article, in-process, and lot samples as required.
• Utilize inspection equipment such as micrometers, gauge blocks, dial indicators, height gauges, optical comparators, profilometers, and CMMs.
• Verify documentation packages to industry/commodity-specific standards.
• Classify defect types and verify rework conducted during inspection.
