Job summary

The Baker Company is seeking a Mechanical Assembler to join our Sanford, ME team. This full-time role involves reading blueprints, performing assembly, testing and inspecting biological safety cabinets, and ensuring quality and efficiency on a fast-paced line.

Responsibilities include using various tools, recording test data, and applying Lean principles to reduce waste. Relocation or sponsorship are not offered. The position pays $20.00 per hour and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Mechanical assembly skills.
• Basic problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, shop orders and work instructions.
• Perform and understand Soap Bubble and Filter Leak procedures in areas as required.
• Perform final inspection for overall appearance of product to include panel fit-up, paint finish and cleanliness as required.
• Take all required airflow readings and qualify each cabinet for basic operation and performance in areas as required.
• Record data and generate an electronic copy of the Unit Test Report for each cabinet tested.
• Perform simple mathematical functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
• Use hand power tools, pallet jacks, hand trucks, stud welders, and various pneumatic tools.
• Work as a part of a team.
• Work at a fast pace in a manufacturing line environment and meet takt times.
• Cross train in multiple areas of the Assembly department.
• Make every effort to focus on doing-it-right to make sure the customer is happy or satisfied with our units.
• Provide value to our customers by using Lean tools and concepts to identify and eliminate waste in all forms.
