Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Laboratory Technician to convert field samples into precise numbers, including Proctor tests, sieve analyses, Atterberg limits, moisture content, and compressive strength determinations.

You will operate within an AASHTO R18 quality system with calibrated equipment, maintain thorough records, log samples, and report results. Expect daytime lab work with occasional field sampling to support projects and adherence to quality standards.

Qualifications

• Careful hands, clean documentation habits, mechanical aptitude.
• Prior lab or CMT experience a plus, not required — we train.
• Comfortable with repetitive precision work done right every time.

Responsibilities

• Perform ASTM D698, D1557, D2216, D4318, C136, and C39 testing
• Maintain calibration, standardization, and quality records
• Log samples and preserve chain of custody
• Break cylinders and report strength results same day
• Support proficiency sample programs and accreditation assessments
