Job summary

Parr Lumber Company is seeking a Material Return Specialist to manage the end-to-end process of material returns, from staging and tagging to inventory updates and credits. This full-time position emphasizes accuracy, safety, and timely processing within a fast-paced yard environment.

You will work closely with Receiving, Yard Supervisors, Sales, and vendor partners, ensuring returns are complete, properly documented, and credited within five business days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Load building and/or customer service experience.
• OSHA forklift license (training provided).
• Ability to speak, read, and write English required.
• Ability to measure lineal footage totals on returns.
• Ability to read grades of lumber (#1 vs #2).
• Ability to operate forklift and related equipment safely.
• Experience with receiving/inventory control is preferred.
• Two years of experience with dimension lumber and other building materials preferred.
• Puncture-resistant, slip-resistant footwear required.

Responsibilities

• Receives, stages, and processes material returns for inventory.
• Tags and tags all returns for proper vendor credit.
• Maintains neat, organized return area and accurate paperwork.
• Inspects materials for damage prior to unloading from customer vehicles.
• Operates forklift and related equipment safely and efficiently.
• Works with Receiving, Yard Supervisor, and Sales to expedite credits.
• Creates return orders and vendor return paperwork in ERP system.
• Ensures compliance with company safety protocols and packaging standards.
• Communicates issues promptly to team members and management.
