Job summary

PARR in Damascus, OR, is seeking a Material Return Specialist who ensures all resalable material returns are properly tallied, inspected, and restocked to meet customer expectations for timely credits and reliable inventory. You’ll coordinate with Load Builders, Receivers, and Drivers to move vendor returns efficiently and accurately.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, forklift certification, and experience with dimension lumber and panels.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Forklift certification and ability to operate forklift safely.
  • Ability to read lumber grades and measure lineal footage on returns.
  • Experience with dimension lumber and panels preferred.
  • ERP/digital documentation: credits notes, supplier returns, and credit PO’s.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure incoming material returns are properly staged with appropriate recognition tags.
  • Maintain a clean return area and proper labeling of special orders and vendor returns.
  • Process returns from start to finish, including creating SRPOs and credit notes.
  • Inspect materials for damage prior to unloading and verify MRF against return PO.
  • Collaborate with Load Builder, Receiving Coordinator, and drivers to ensure timely credits and stock updates.
  • Operate forklift and related equipment following safety protocols.

Our customers and community members know that they can rely on us for Legendary Service and quality products.Pay: $22.14 - $26.62The Material Return Specialist safely and efficiently performs the process of receiving re-sellable materials back into yard inventory. The Specialist is essential to help ensure that all material returns are received properly and in a timely order to meet our customer expectation of 5 business days from pickup through completion of process. The process includes tallying, inspection, and sorting of material, creating farm packs, vendor return PO’s, scheduling material returns to the vendor, and writing and invoicing credit notes in the system.This full-time position reports directly to the Assistant Manager or Location Supervisor, works closely with and is a backup for the Receiving Coordinator, Salespeople, Vendor partners and will interact daily with the Load Builders, Lumberyard Associates, Drivers, Dispatchers, and vendor delivery truck drivers.Duties and ResponsibilitiesQuality of WorkEnsures incoming material returns are properly staged with appropriate recognition tagsEnsures that special order and/or nonstock items are addressed immediately with Receiving coordinator/Yard Supervisor and properly tagged for vendor returnMaintains a neat organized material return transition locationChecks all paperwork for accuracyPromptly reports any malfunctioning equipmentComes to work professionally attiredHelps in overall cleanliness of locationStrives for timely credits to customer/partners as per company guidelinesEnsures “cover sheets” and “bottom boards” are considered in the returnRequires all necessary vendor returned productsAbility to gain in-depth ERP knowledge, write Credit Notes and create Supplier ReturnsBasic understanding of return process, knows who to process documentation once material is verified and MRF is properly fill outEnsures Supplier Return PO’s are created at the time the Credit Note is process with proper restock costingIdentifies dimensional lumber, panels, #1 vs #2, and other basic building productsAbility to be selective and differentiate between cull and resalable materialOperates a forklift according to company standardResponsible for Supplier Returns, creates SRPO, contacts vendor for pickup and tracks product until completion of pick-upProcesses returns from start to finishUtilizes Supplier Return report to assist with improving vendor performanceInspects materials for damage prior to unloading customer vehicle (if applicable)Validates material matches the MRF and return POIdentifies specialty products (EWP, Composite decking, etc.)Works with receiver and Operational Inventory Controller (OIC) to investigate and resolve situations where inventory counts are incorrectEnsures proper labeling of all special orders, vendor returns, and inter-yard
