Responsibilities

• Position and secure workpieces on machines using holding devices and measuring instruments.
• Remove workpieces and verify conformance with specifications using calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Verify alignment of workpieces on machines using rules, gauges, or calipers.
• Set cutting speeds, feed rates, depths of cuts based on instructions or material properties.
• Install tools in spindles and change worn cutting tools.
• Monitor machine indicators to ensure proper operation and safety.
• Study machining instructions or blueprints to determine specifications and tooling needs.
• Attend monthly shop meetings and report hazards to supervision.
