Job summary

ASC Engineered Solutions, LLC in North Kingstown, RI is seeking a Manual Machinist/Fabrication to set up and operate manual machining and fabrication equipment, read blueprints, and produce quality parts from ferrous and non-ferrous materials.

You will perform in-process inspections with precision tools, maintain a clean, safe work area, and cross-train across machines while supporting safe material handling and strict quality standards.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience setting up and operating CNC machines and lathes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
• Experience using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, verniers).
• Ability to operate material handling equipment (certification helpful).
• Proficient in basic shop math and machining principles.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual lathes, drills, blacksmith threading equipment, presses, and other fabrication tools.
• Perform threading, cutting, sawing, shearing, abrasive cutting, drilling, grinding, punching, reaming, deburring and cleaning on ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
• Interpret operation travelers, blueprints, and oral instructions to determine tools and methods.
• Conduct first-piece and in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, verniers, machinist squares, and thread gauges.
• Perform setup, adjustments, and maintenance to ensure parts meet specifications and quality standards.
• Safely operate material handling equipment, including cranes, dollies, and carts.
• Store tooling, inserts, and other items in an organized manner with proper labels.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to safety standards.
• Crosstrain on various equipment and processes as required.
• Identify and report safety hazards and assist in remediation.
