Job summary

Sandvik Group in Illinois is seeking a Manual Grinder to operate chamfer grinders and other manual machines to produce high-precision cutting tools. You will verify accuracy against engineering prints and assembly sheets and assemble the final product per build sheets.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 1 year of machine shop experience, and familiarity with micrometers and calipers. Certification is a plus. A systematic approach to tolerances and quality will help you succeed.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Certification from machining program preferred but not required.
Minimum of 1 year machine shop experience.
Experience with surface grinders preferred.

Responsibilities

Set up and offsets as required.
Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
Verify conformance of finished workpieces to specifications.
Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and material on machines such as mills, lathes, grinders, and shapers.
Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors—speed, feed, depth, and angle of cut.
Check machinery daily to ensure functionality.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Use prints and bill of materials to assemble the final product.
