WLS Companies seeks a skilled Machinist to join a fast-paced job shop, setting up and operating a variety of machines to produce high-quality precision tooling components per customer specs. You will read drawings, select cutting tools, and secure workpieces for accurate machining.

The role requires experience with manual lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses, plus strong measurement skills and attention to detail. Safety and teamwork are essential in this environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or technical certificate.
• Experience as a Manual Machinist in a fabricating job shop or similar.
• Proficiency in operating lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate and high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine machining requirements.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials for each machining operation.
• Align and secure workpieces using clamps, vises, and other holding devices.
• Perform machining operations, including turning, facing, boring, drilling, tapping, milling, surface grinding, and threading, with precision and adherence to quality standards.
• Inspect machined components using precision measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and Optical Comparators, to verify part accuracy.
• Make necessary adjustments and modifications to tooling to maintain quality and productivity.
• Troubleshoot and resolve tooling issues and related to stamping and fabricating tooling.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams improve product quality through better tool design.
• Set up and operate CNC Machining Center and Wire EDM (as required, training available).
• Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Complete work orders, production reports, and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
