Job summary

Olin Winchester in Independence, MO is seeking a Machinist Technician for the Tool and Gage Shop. You will read and interpret government and Olin-Winchester drawings to manufacture and repair high‑tolerance gages and parts, and maintain machinery.

The role requires CNC and Studer programming, plus manual grinding, lapping and polishing. Expect a schedule of Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–3:30 PM with possible overtime and weekend work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three (3) years of relevant machine shop and/or precision grinding experience.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and trade type tools to perform repairs and maintenance on equipment.
• Ability to Communicate, documentation skills, and the ability to work closely with engineering staff.
• Computer skills relevant to engineering work and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work standing up entire work shift, lift up to 35 lbs., and work with energetic materials.

Responsibilities

• Read, understand and interpret government and Olin-Winchester drawings used in the manufacture of high tolerance parts.
• Apply shop mathematics and knowledgeable in metal properties, metal removal and finishing in the manufacturing of high tolerance parts.
• Set up and operate machine shop equipment and tools. Machines include lathes, milling machines, CNC machining centers, screw machines, hydraulic presses, external and internal grinders, honing machines and EDM.
• Produce parts with tolerances ranging from .005" to .0002", with finishes ranging from Ra63 to Ra4 by one or all the following processes: machining, grinding, lapping, and/or polishing.
