Winchester Ammunition in Independence, MO is seeking a Machinist Technician – Tool and Gage Shop to read and interpret government drawings and machine high-tolerance parts. The role requires operating CNC and manual grinding equipment and collaborating with engineering for precision work.

The ideal candidate will have strong machining skills, be able to program and operate automatic grinding equipment including CNC and Studer, and comply with ITAR and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three (3) years of relevant machine shop and/or precision grinding experience.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and trade type tools to perform repairs and maintenance on equipment.
• Ability to Communicate, documentation skills, and the ability to work closely with engineering staff.
• Computer skills relevant to engineering work and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work standing up entire work shift, lift up to 35 lbs., and work with energetic materials.

Responsabilités

• Read and interpret government and Olin-Winchester drawings used in the manufacture of high tolerance parts.
• Apply shop mathematics and knowledge in metal properties, metal removal and finishing in the manufacturing of high tolerance parts.
• Set up and operate machine shop equipment and tools across multiple machines (lathe, mills, CNC centers, grinders, EDM).
• Produce parts with tolerances from .005" to .0002" and finishes from Ra63 to Ra4 via machining, grinding, lapping, and/or polishing.
