Job summary

Georg Fischer in Independence, Missouri seeks an experienced machinist/tool and die specialist to manufacture, repair and design tools and dies for production equipment. Candidate will set up and operate surface grinders, CNC mills/lathe, and manual mills with tight tolerances.

The role requires reading technical prints, performing precision measurements with micrometers and gauges, and maintaining quality standards while adhering to safety policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 years' machining experience.
• High school diploma preferred.
• Technical/vocational certification in Tool and Die or machining desirable.
• Able to read and interpret technical prints and drawings.
• Knowledge of metal properties.

Responsibilities

• Maintain machine tools to ensure optimal performance.
• Collaborate with engineers to ensure tools meet manufacturing needs.
• Read and interpret technical prints to understand parts.
• Use machine tools and welding to manufacture/repair tools, dies, fixtures.
• Work with close tolerances in drilling, boring, reaming, milling and turning.
• Program and run CNC mill and CNC lathe as required.
• Set up and run manual mills and lathes as required.
• Measure finished parts with micrometers, calipers and gauges.
• Assemble, disassemble and test products for functionality and quality.
• Inspect finished products for defects and compliance with standards.
• Follow directions from General Manager or designee.
• Support and maintain 6S standards in the workspace.
• Follow EH&S rules when operating machinery.
• Perform other duties as directed.
