Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with machining equipment, tools, and gauges.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and tolerances.
• Basic math skills (algebra and geometry, nothing too exotic).
• Confidence setting up and operating machines, not just running them.
• A detail-focused mindset—especially when working to tight tolerances.
• Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• A willingness to learn new machines and processes.

Responsibilities

• Setting up and running a mix of semi-automatic and manual machines in a machine shop environment.
• Involved in setups, inspections, and troubleshooting when issues arise.
• Set up and run a range of machines including lapping, polishing, and tool grinding.
• Use cutting tools such as diamond grinding wheels.
• Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
• Work to tight tolerances (down to four decimal places).
• Carry out first-piece inspections to ensure work meets specifications.
• Spot and troubleshoot mechanical issues on machines.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow all safety procedures (non-negotiable).
