Hirsh Industries is seeking a dependable machinist to join our manufacturing team in a fast-paced environment. You will set up and operate manual lathes and milling machines, inspect parts, and ensure tolerances and finishes meet specifications.

The ideal candidate has experience with manual equipment, reads blueprints, and performs precise measurements. You will work independently and with teams, maintaining safety and quality across shop operations.

Qualifications

• Experience operating manual lathes and milling machines.
• Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings.
• Proficient with micrometers and calipers.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with close tolerances.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Dependable attendance and attention to detail.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, and other machine shop equipment.
• Manufacture and repair parts according to drawings, prints, sketches, or existing components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Perform accurate measurements using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision instruments.
• Maintain required dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes.
• Determine tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining methods.
• Inspect completed parts to ensure they meet specifications.
• Troubleshoot machining and product defects.
• Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of machine shop equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all safety procedures and manufacturing standards.
• Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, production and other departments.
