Job summary

SMS group USA is seeking a skilled Machinist to set up, operate, and maintain manual and CNC machines, ensuring parts meet precise specs and ISO standards. You will read blueprints, adjust tooling, verify dimensions, and troubleshoot equipment to sustain production efficiency.

The role requires strong machining and measurement skills, ability to work with various machine tools, and a focus on safety and quality in a demanding manufacturing environment. Monday–Friday, day shift, on-site.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience operating manual and CNC machine tools in manufacturing or heavy industrial environments.
• Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, and machining specifications.
• Knowledge of machining practices, tooling, feeds, speeds, and material properties.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
• Basic CNC programming and troubleshooting experience preferred.
• Experience operating overhead cranes, rigging equipment, forklifts, and pallet jacks preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools to manufacture, repair, and modify components to required specifications.
• Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, and work instructions using metric and English measurements.
• Program, edit, and troubleshoot CNC machine programs as required.
• Operate CNC vertical mills, horizontal mills, lathes, and other machining equipment.
• Verify machine setups, tooling, offsets, and dimensions to meet quality and customer requirements.
• Perform precision machining with close tolerances and high-quality workmanship.
• Utilize precision measuring instruments to verify dimensional accuracy.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and equipment issues to maintain production efficiency.
• Move materials safely using cranes, rigging, forklifts, and pallet jacks.
• Complete documentation accurately, including travelers, inspection records, and production reports.
