Job summary

Hawkeye Tool & Machine, based in Oxford, MI, is seeking a full‑time on‑site Machinist to set up, operate, and maintain manual and CNC machines producing precision components from engineering drawings. You will interpret blueprints, select tools and parameters, and verify parts with precision gauges in a safe, organized shop.

The role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and adherence to schedules while maintaining equipment and documentation.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions, with basic math skills.
• Experience setting up and operating manual and CNC machines with tooling and parameters.
• Proficiency with calipers, micrometers, gauges, and inspection tools for part verification.
• Understanding of machining processes, materials, and safety practices in a shop environment.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to correct dimensional errors.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, manage time, and meet production schedules.
• Vocational training or certification in machining preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain manual and CNC machines per drawings and work orders.
• Interpret blueprints and select appropriate tools, fixtures and machining parameters.
• Perform measurements and inspections to verify tolerances and adjust when needed.
• Conduct routine machine maintenance and document production activities.
