Job summary

Zekelman Industries is seeking a T/R Machinist to support plant operations by machining, repairing, and fabricating precision tooling and components. You will interpret blueprints, select tooling, and set up machines to produce parts accurately and safely, ensuring quality through inspection and adherence to specifications.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 3+ years of machining experience, and CNC programming familiarity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical training preferred.
• 3+ years of machining experience in manufacturing, maintenance, or tool room.
• Experience operating manual machine tools; CNC experience preferred.
• Experience in a job shop or industrial setting is a plus.
• Ability to read blueprints and GD&T specifications.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain manual and CNC machine tools to produce and repair precision parts.
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, specs, and work instructions for component manufacture.
• Select tooling, materials, fixtures, and methods based on job requirements.
• Prepare workpieces, tooling, and fixtures to ensure safe machining operations.
• Perform milling, turning, drilling, grinding, jig boring operations.
• Set up and adjust machine parameters to meet tolerances.
• Measure finished work with micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and depth gauges; calculate dimensions and speeds.
• Inspect parts to verify quality against specs.
• Monitor machine performance and correct issues promptly.
• Operate overhead hoists and material handling equipment safely.
• Maintain 5S and clean work area; support continuous improvement.
• Follow safety procedures and lockout/tagout; collaborate with other departments.
