Job summary

General Atomics is seeking a Machinist to support the Inertial Fusion Technology division at Sandia National Lab in Albuquerque, NM. The role involves setting up and operating manual and CNC machines to produce high-precision components, with strict due dates and a culture of safety and quality.

Experience with NC programming (G-code and CAD/CAM) and inspection tools is required, along with the ability to work independently or in a team within a large lab environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or technical/trade school or equivalent.
• Experience with NC mills and lathes; basic G-code; CAD/CAM familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual shop equipment (lathes, mills, saws).
• Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes.
• Program NC in G-code and CAD/CAM (Creo).
• Inspect parts with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and optical profilers.
• Document inspection results in Excel and archive files.
