Job summary

Georgia-Pacific LLC in Toledo, OR is seeking a self-motivated Machinist to join our team. The position starts at $40.47 per hour with an increase to $41.02/hour after a 120-day probationary period upon completing multi-craft training or demonstrating multi-craft skills.

Initially day shift, with a future 12-hour rotation. The Machinist will set up and operate machining tools, fabricate parts, and work with maintenance to ensure productivity.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience in vertical mills and lathes.
• Experience completing job setups independently.
• Experience machining steel, stainless steel, aluminum.
• Knowledge of tool holders, insert types, lathe threading, turning and boring setups.
• Experience in geometric tolerances, inspection gauges, and layout procedures.
• Experience operating hoisting and lifting devices.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, and operate a variety of machining tools to perform precision machining operations (lathe, milling machine, drill press etc.).
• Machine and fabricate a variety of parts and components to include shafts, bushings, pins, gears, hubs, bearings, keyways etc.
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and precision measurement tools
• Conduct maintenance on equipment in accordance with the scheduled maintenance requirements
• Work closely with various members of the maintenance team to collaborate on projects and work orders
• Adhere to and promote all safety policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment throughout the plant
