Job summary

Oldcastle, a CRH company, is seeking a machine operator in Asheville, NC to operate assigned machinery, calibrate settings, and ensure production of a quality finished product in line with safety policies.

You will read job specifications, adjust guides, monitor operations for defects, perform routine maintenance, and assist teammates to meet deadlines. A high school diploma or equivalent is required; leadership abilities are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, or related experience.
• Basic understanding of electronics and programmable controllers.
• Knowledge with the basics of hydraulics, electricity and tools.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Must encompass computer literacy as well as strong mechanical ability.
• Leadership abilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
• Set stops or guides to specific lengths as indicated by scale, rule or templates.
• Observes machine operation to detect product defects or machine malfunction.
• Review product for inconsistencies or abnormal appearance assuring product meets quality requirements.
• Perform routine machine maintenance.
• Assist other operators to set up machines and any other necessary tasks to adhere to deadlines and completion of product.
• Make sure all housekeeping is maintained in a clear and orderly fashion in assigned area.
