Job summary

Nelson Global Products Inc. in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a manufacturing operator for the 1st shift to learn and operate production equipment, perform setup adjustments, and complete quality checks on parts.

You will read setup sheets, verify settings with shop tools, record production data, move parts to the next operation, and help drive continuous improvement initiatives while complying with safety guidelines. The position requires standing for the full shift and wearing PPE.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Proficiency in shop math (fractions, decimals, metric).
• Ability to read and follow routing instructions and setup instructions.
• Ability to read blueprints and use measuring instruments.
• Proficiency with tape measure, calipers and micrometers.
• Ability to check part quality against templates.

Responsibilities

• Learn to operate various types of equipment and make minor adjustments during production runs to ensure quality parts.
• Read previously prepared setup sheets and ensure correct settings on the equipment.
• Conduct quality inspections as required by written procedures.
• Complete production records.
• Move parts to the next operation.
• Record scrap or rework and reasons.
• Participate in corrective actions to prevent defects from recurring.
• Follow procedures for repeatability.
• Participate in team meetings for continuous improvement.
• Operate hand jacks.
